Neil Carlson, PhD is Founder and Principal and Chief Inventor of Pompous Job Titles. He received his doctorate in political science from Duke University in 2004 and spent 17.7342 years leading the DataWise team in its previous incarnation as the Center for Social Research at Calvin University. Neil delights in solving problems by linking team culture to technology. He’s absurdly interested in just about everything, but when forced to focus, his research interests tend toward civic engagement, organizational culture, religion and politics, the digital transformation of society and science and technology policy. Favorite projects often result in interactive data visualizations posted to the DataWise Tableau Public profile. He enjoys sci-fi books and movies and family travel with his wife and two sons.
